Dear knitter,

Welcome to your Saturday!

You’re in luck: we’ve cooked up a bonus MDK Gems, Holiday Emergency Edition for you.

This brand-new offering solves the eternal conundrum of: a) I want to make a meaningful, heartfelt, handmade gift and b) I have maybe three days to do it. (Spoiler: our answer is a quick ’n’ cute set of mitts or coasters designed by the one and only Thea Colman.)

The Deal

Order any quantity of Jill Draper’s hand-dyed, small-batch Windham yarn. In the email confirming your order, we’ll give you a 100% free ebook download of the jolliest of Field Guides—yes, the one by the extremely clever Thea Colman. MDK Field Guide No. 8: Merry Making. (A $9.95 value.)

This offer runs through Friday, December 8, while supplies last. You’ll find Windham here—hop on this soon, given our limited supply.

Remember: Field Guide subscribers save 10% when using the monthly subscriber coupon code we emailed at the beginning of November—easy savings!

Next Weekend in Nashville

On Friday afternoon, December 8, we’ll be throwing open the doors of MDK World Headquarters for a holiday open house, 2:00-6:00 pm.

This event is open to all. $15 holds your place and will be credited back to purchases. Get your ticket here.

Fantastic news: Our fellow Nashville small business Camellia Fiber Company will be our special guest vendor for this event. If you haven’t had a chance to experience Silbia Ro’s sumptuous yarns in real life, you’re in for a treat.

Meanwhile . . .

We had a big time on MDK this week.

To celebrate the miracle of ebooks, we’re offering a deal we’ve never done before.

MDK’s resident theatre kid Samantha Brunson geeked out over a new book of Shakespearean crochet designs—and answered the question: what do Wishbone and Die Hard have in common?

This one is always up to something. Nell Ziroli cooked up a tasty hat recipe whose key ingredient is the stunning floral motif of Dee Hardwicke’s Blossom Stripe Shawl.

How two titanic performances overcame DG Strong’s resistance to sports movies.

As ever, we thank you all for supporting MDK through thick and thin. Every morning, we bring the best writers, teachers, and knitting to you, free of charge. This is only possible because of your purchases from the MDK Shop—thank you!

Questions? Email us anytime at hello@moderndailyknitting.com, and you’ll get a prompt personal response from a real live MDK person.

Stay healthy, take care of each other, and knit on.

Love,

Ann and Kay

Stocking Time Is Now

If you’re dreaming of knitting somebody a Christmas stocking, it’s time to get going! In our New Ancestral Stocking Kit, you’ll find four jolly shades of Atlas yarn that can make two stockings if you change the order of colors on your second stocking. And—you get your very own jingle bell. (We’re wildly excited about the jingle bell.)

Try It, You’ll Like It

This year’s MDK Holiday Shop is all about going places and going home—we’ve got projects, storage solutions, arts & crafts, and even snacks to keep you going.

Become one with watercolor! We fell in love with watercolor painting this year—so much that we have two sets of watercolors for you: a very simple set and a very fine set.

And we found a beautiful book that teaches mindful painting.

By now you know we love the little things. See it all in our Holiday Shop shoppable lookbook.

Treats for You

To give or (really) to keep for yourself. A bundle of chocolate from our favorite Nashville chocolate maker, Olive and Sinclair.

The brand-new 2024 MDK Calendar Tea Towel picturing knitters doing their thing.

And the best peanut butter, like, ever.

Give a Gift Card

The dazzling gift that always fits. Is always welcome. Makes it superfun to shop at MDK. Give the MDK Gift Card to your favorite knitter—they’ll love it.

  • Your sewing kit is a great idea, but doesn’t include sewing needles???? Mistake?
Why would anyone purchase this without the main event?

    • The list of kit contents states that the needles are in the tin box .

      • Yep, they’re also visible in the photo (mixed in with the pins) if you need to see ’em. We TRY to cover all the bases!
