Dear knitter,

Welcome to your Saturday!

Big news. In a few days, we’ll be launching a new 2023 edition of the MDK website.

Most of it will be totally invisible to you! It’s the website equivalent of getting a new water heater, HVAC, and gutters. Not glamorous, but the sort of things that make life run well.

In order to switch to the new site, we’ll need to close the MDK Shop for shopping on Monday, April 24, 11:00 am Central until Tuesday, April 25, 11:00 am. The rest of MDK will remain open. In other words: please shop your hearts out this weekend so we can pay the gargantuan bill for this project. 😉

Scroll down for our latest temptations for you.

Olga Workshop June 10–11: It’s a Hit!

We are almost at capacity for our in-depth workshop with Olga Buraya-Kefelian. If you’ve already signed up, we cannot wait to see you in Nashville. If you haven’t, come join us! Many folks come to our events solo and leave with newfound friends. Registration and details are here

Meanwhile . . .

We had a big time on MDK this week.

We love Carol Feller. And so did the crowd who tuned in for our Zoom conversation on Monday. If you missed this special event with the designer of Field Guide No. 14: Refresh, watch it right here.

We’re extending our MDK Gems promotion, so snap up some Nua Sport. The ebook version of Field Guide No. 14: Refresh is free with your purchase of Nua Sport in any amount.

For everybody who’s sick of gun violence, Ann’s pep talk resonated with a lot of readers.

Nell Ziroli’s new Shakerag Skirt design is the stuff of summer dreamydreams. Rumor has it that all the cool kids are making one.

It’s A to Z with the coolest, modern knitted alphabet we’ve seen. Kay is a goner for it. Join her spontaneous knitalong.

Our resident book lover Jillian Moreno sets us up with nine choice knitting books.

Loving Black Opry: settle in for DG’s hotlist of country, Americana, blues, and folk by Black artists.

New yarn alert! Spincycle’s newest yarn, Trine (rhymes with divine) is a triumph. MDK’s trusty pattern scout found seven great ways to give Trine a try.

Remember to enter this week’s giveaway by midnight Central time Sunday night. There’s Rowan Handknit Cotton and baby patterns for the winner this week.

Thanks for being a part of MDK! Our mission is to elevate the knitting life, by publishing something new every day of the year, plus exciting designers, friendly community, and a first-class shopping experience. Questions? Email us anytime at hello@moderndailyknitting.com, and you’ll get a prompt personal response from a real live MDK person.

Stay healthy, take care of each other, and knit on.

Love,

Ann and Kay

Our popular Temperature Blanket Starter Packs make the hard part—picking colors—easy. Each pack has 11 or 22 skeins of Rowan Felted Tweed. Plus: you save 10 percent off the single-skein price.

Summerlite 4ply and Handknit Cotton are two more warm weather go-to yarns, perfect for lightweight tops and tanks.

Bouncy, superfun Atlas. Soft, lofty, colorful, and versatile.

The Necessities

Field Guides galore! Pick three to Make Your Own Bundle. And update your gear with the Interchangeable Needle Set of our dreams.

The perfect on-the-go knitting bag and a project tray (on sale!) that is as stylish as it is functional.

Box of (lots of) Joy!

The Skill Set Box of Joy is finally back in stock—and in a beautiful new colorway. We worked on this deluxe learn-to-knit kit for a long time, wanting to get every element as perfect as we could. But even so, we’ve been amazed at its popularity. It’s the best way we know to share the joy of knitting with someone special. If you’ve been waiting for its return, get it while we’ve got it.

  • Much as I would LOVE to attend your workshop/weekend in Nashville, my unwillingness to support IN ANY WAY, Tennessee’s atrocious LGBTQ+ policies prohibits me from spending ANY money in the state. Not your fault – let your guvmint know they are costing you business and $$ because of their ridiculous policies.

    • I would urge you to think further. MDK owners and staff are working for change, protesting and organizing, as are so many outraged, determined Tennesseans who deplore the current laws. Ann’s post this week took a strong stand, with the support of everyone in the company, even though it was “safer”business-wise to be silent. Not clear that the cause of gun safety laws is helped by a boycott that does not recognize important differences between people and businesses.

    • Amen!

  • Ab Fab, OMG! My daughter just named her two chicks Patsy and Eddy…

  • Thank you for this and for the resources. I just made a contribution to the Gabby Giffords site.
