If you’re looking for your first Norwegian sweater project, we humbly point you toward this winning design, which combines traditional motifs with a modern palette of colors.

The Valdres Pullover is worked in the round, with easy stretches of stockinette before and after the stranded knitting. The sleeves come first, then the body, working from the hem upward. Once the sleeves and body are joined, the yoke is worked up to the neckline. Grafting the underarms is the only finishing required.

Sweater sizing is unisex, which is longer than women’s sizing. Measure a favorite sweater, and adjust body length if necessary before beginning to work chart.
