Dear knitter,

Welcome to your Saturday!

Have you joined the Great Dickie-along? Arne and Carlos’s super-fast, super-fun Kos Neckwarmer has big dickie energy, and we’re having a blast. Ann had to wrestle with a little thing called gauge her first time around, but her second Kos Neckwarmer is a big win for knitterly gumption.

There’s plenty of time to join the dickie party in the MDK Lounge. Need supplies? You’ll need 2 balls of Norwegian Wool in your main color, and single balls or leftovers of 3 additional colors, to make the pattern as written. Or you can change it up to a graphic, 2-color version with 2 balls of your main color and 2 balls of a contrasting shade. Have fun whipping up this cheerful and cheering project, and you can pretend you’re Scandinavian on your next chilly walk.

Meanwhile . . .

We had a big time on MDK this week.

MDK’s resident yarn sommelier Jillian Moreno paired a strand of Atlas with a strand of Kidsilk Haze, and gosh: they are so good together.

If Max Daniels’s latest self-care sermonette doesn’t get you singing Joni Mitchell’s “Woodstock” at the top of your lungs, we don’t know what will.

When the world’s cutest baby pants pattern needs a new yarn, who you gonna call? (Kay.)

This weekend, take a few minutes to watch this beautiful short video, and pat yourself on the back if you knit with wool—you’re helping preserve a renewable, sustainable resource, and the planet’s biodiversity.

Remember to enter this week’s giveaway by midnight Central time Sunday night. The prize: 2 skeins of our favorite U.S.-grown, U.S.-spun, U.S.-dyed wool yarn. You guessed it: MDK Atlas

Dickie Adventures

The Great Dickie-along is now in progress through April 7!

Check out Ann, Kay, and Arne & Carlos’s colorful versions of the Kos Neckwarmer—knit with the rare and lush Rowan Norwegian Wool—below.

Look at Ann wearing her newest dickie in Peat, Coastal Fjord, Daphne, and Frost Grey. Stunning.

A Kayesque statuette in Coastal Fjord, Wind Chime, Mountain Green, and Daphne. Ethereal.

Arne & Carlos’s traditionally cool color combos of Peat, Ribbon Red, Cloud Dancer, and Emerald.

It’s fun to see the Kos Neckwarmers happening in the Lounge, where the Great Dickie-along is under way. And there are more color explosions over on Ravelry. It looks totally different depending on what you do with your color.

  • Thank you for “stay healthy, take care of each other, and knit on”. This site/blog is uplifting, warm-hearted, and a wonderful place to find not just creative ideas about yarn, knitting, etc, but a wonderful place to find about living a creative life. Thank you

  • I agree with Cathy Inzer! Besides, today it’s either feel good with MDK or watch the snow continue to pile up here in Wisconsin. The FIRST snow of the year is really pretty and fun to watch. Mounds of snow in almost-April not NEARLY as much fun. Keep up the good work MDK!

    • So right about how we perceive the snow.

  • Is the d in qualidy for dickie? What fun! Maybe I could have endured this year’s especially long Canadian winter that much better if I’d imagined myself a Scandinavian. 🙂
