The search is over: Ito Kinu is the most summery, wearable yarn for the Shakerag Top. Kinu’s whisper-thin weight and matte finish make beautiful single- and double-stranded stripes—the Shakerag Top’s defining feature.

The resulting texture-stripe fabric is refreshingly light, but not too sheer—it can be worn with or without a camisole or tee underneath. This beloved top is a quick knit! See below for cone quantities for your size.

We recommend knitting Kinu directly off the cone, but you can also wind it into balls.

Here are the cone quantities you’ll need to make your size of the Shakerag Top in Ito Kinu.

S, M, L (finished bust measurements 39, 44, 48″): 3 cones

XL, 2XL (53, 57.5″): 4 cones

3XL (62.5″): 5 cones

Tip: When using a yarn as thin as Kinu, you risk getting a child-sized garment if you do not swatch for gauge.  Once you get gauge, you’re golden! 

As a point of reference, our sample knitter used a US 7 (4.5 mm) needle to achieve the prescribed gauge; your needle size may vary, of course!
