Reindeer lichen is a pale sight in the Icelandic landscape, ruffled and dense, low to the ground. Here Hélène gives us a wink by rendering an actual reindeer onto the mitten tops.
Materials
— Plotulopi by Istex [100 g plates, each approx 328 yds (300 m), 100% new wool): 1 plate each #1423 Clover Green (MC) and #0001 White (CC)
— Size US 6 (4 mm) double-pointed needles (set of 4 or 5)
— Size US 7 (4.5 mm) double-pointed needles (set of 4 or 5), or size needed to achieve gauge
— Stitch marker
— Waste yarn
Gauge
18 sts and 20 rows = 4″ (10 cm) over stranded st st, using larger needles and 2 strands of yarn held tog
