You’ve Got Snippets: May 31, 2025

Dear knitter,
Happy Saturday!
Grab your needles and your most chat-friendly project. It’s time to celebrate! You are cordially invited to join us in Nashville for our Grand Open House on June 7.
We’ve planned a get-together on the heels of the Knitting Getaway at Shakerag so you can visit, shop, and mix with a friendly crowd of knitters at MDK World Headquarters, the welcoming-est warehouse in Nashville.
The Details
What: The MDK Shop at Atlas! Explore bits, bobs, and things we love in person! Shop Jane and Atlas—yes, Atlas x Madelinetosh, too—in real life. Try on samples, mix and match colors, choose quantities, and take your picks home with you.
A highlight will be sitting and knitting—settle in on a sofa or wicker chair, and make new friends from all over.
We’ll have special drinks and light snacks to keep your strength up.
When: Saturday, June 7, from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm.
Where: 441 Atlas Drive, Nashville, TN 37211
Who: You! And us. Ann, Kay and Team MDK will be available to give advice, recommendations, and laughs.
If you plan on joining us, please let us know! Click here to RSVP. And please share this invitation with a Nashvillian friend; we’d love to meet them.
Meanwhile…
We had a big time on MDK this week.
How creativity translates and transforms our deepest feelings: an extraordinary piece from Felix Ford about precious ordinary days.
The tourist tap is now all the way ON: it’s the high season at the historical farm where Adrienne Martini weaves, spins, and learns as she teaches visitors about making textiles in the 1800s.
Kay’s in trouble, and the only way out is through.
Put a lobster on it! Pattern Scout Ashley Balding rounds up designs that are easy to embellish and make your own.
Coming soon—a fantastic new project-based class is on the horizon. How to knit a cloud, basically.
The musical stars of Nash Yarn Fest just released a new record—have a listen.
Your Support Is Everything—Thank You!
At MDK, making knitters happy is Job One. Good things take dedication and resources. If you love your Saturday Snippets and your daily dose of knitting knowledge and inspiration, it’s vital—and easy—to support MDK.
One great way, of course: join the MDK Society. Your MDK Society membership will repay you in fun, connection, and community. (And 10% savings on many things!)
Whenever you shop with MDK, sign up for a workshop, or share our content with others, you’re directly supporting the yarnmakers, artisans, teachers, and writers that we feature here. Thank you!
Questions? Email us anytime at hello@moderndailyknitting.com, and you’ll get a prompt response from a real live MDK person.
Stay healthy, take care of each other, and knit on.
Love,
Ann and Kay
PS Believe it or not, there are knitters who don’t know about MDK!
Please forward this Snippets to a knitter friend—we appreciate it so much.
A Great Class is Coming Up

Are you continental-curious? If you’ve always wanted to know the secrets of holding the yarn in the left hand and “picking” your stitches, our June 27 virtual workshop with legendary teacher Lorilee Beltman has got your name on it.
With Lorilee’s patient guidance, we’ll stretch our minds—and our muscle memory—to learn a style of knitting that many knitters find faster, and may also be a more efficient way of working stitch patterns that switch frequently from knit to purl. This is an in-depth, 3-hour workshop, so you’ll get plenty of tips, tricks—and practice! The Beltman Effect will be in full force!

This Week’s Top Tip
This week: Top Tipster Jen Arnall-Culliford brings you lesson on a magical, fuss-free way to knit in the round. Read “Little Lessons: Magic Loop” here.
We Love This

Our friends at Knit Stars have made a cool new thing: masterclass bundles!
We’re honored that our own Season 3 masterclass, The Secrets of Knitting Happiness, is included in the Wellness Bundle as one of five complete masterclasses.
We’re in fantastic company, sharing the bill with stars Felicity Ford, Carson Demers, Jacqui Fink, and Tatiana Sarasa. What’s the wellness connection? Read all about it here.
These new bundles are a super cost-effective way to get the lay of the land of Knit Stars. Experience the variety and first-rate quality of their classes, without committing to a full season. These bundles work out to less than $30 per full-length class, plus supporting materials.
MDK earns commissions from purchases through our Knit Stars shop link—thank you so much for this vital support for our mission of free daily content and fun for knitters.
Tiptoe to the Tulips

Are you intrigued by our faves, the Tulip Interchangeable Needles, but want to give them a test drive before committing to the full set?
Here’s an idea: order one set of replacement tips in a size you need or use a lot, plus a single replacement cable in the length of your choosing. Try them out for a while and see if you love them as much as we do. Then you’ll be ready to treat yourself to a whole set with confidence.
What’s so great about Tulips? They’ve been Jillian Moreno’s grab-and-go set for years, and here’s what she has to say about them.
Mad About Mosaic

It’s divine! Explore MDK Field Guide No. 29: Mosaic, with 5 smashing mosaic designs by Amy Christoffers. Read all about it here, and take a happiness break to leaf through the lookbook here.
Members of the MDK Society receive this Field Guide as part of their membership. If you haven’t yet joined, sign up here—and we’ll send your Field Guide, membership pin, and membership card right away.
You can also order your Field Guide No. 29: Mosaic à la carte, right here, in print + ebook or ebook-only editions.
To celebrate the launch of Field Guide No. 29, we had a grand Zoom party, with the designer herself as our special guest. Meet Amy Christoffers by watching the recording here.

The dates: April 17-18, 2026.
We can’t wait to throw this party again, and we hope to see you there. For a taste of the fun to come, read our recap of the 2025 festival here.
In the meantime, make sure you’re on the Nash Yarn Fest mailing list (scroll down for the signup box), so you don’t miss a thing.
It’s the Place to Be

Have you heard about the MDK Society? It’s the knitting community we’ve dreamed about, come to real (and virtual) life. Our charter year is off to a great start, and we hope you’ll join us.
The benefits of charter membership are many—and we will be adding more fun all year long. Members save 10 percent on our wonderful virtual workshops, and in the MDK Shop, throughout 2025.
What we’re most excited about: virtual events and hangouts for Society members. Each month we put on a new episode of The Snippets Show, plus virtual knit nights, conversation in the MDK Society Lounge forum, and more.
Please take a moment to sign up now.
Video recordings of The Snippets Show are available to all MDK Society members, indefinitely. Recent Snippets Show guests: Arne and Carlos, Franklin Habit, Natalie Chanin, Jeanette Sloan, and Clara Parkes.
