Dear knitter,
Happy Saturday!
Two bits of really big news this week.
Kaffe Is Coming!
When Kaffe Fassett and Brandon Mably want to come to Nashville, that’s a big HECK YEAH from us!
We’re thrilled to host the legendary designer Kaffe Fassett for an in-person lecture and celebration at MDK World Headquarters. Kaffe’s topic: An Eye for Color.
On Saturday, October 4, 11:00 am-2:00 pm, Kaffe and Brandon will be in attendance for this party, which includes an inspiring talk, snacks and beverages, meeting and greeting, gazing upon beautiful samples of Kaffe’s designs, shopping, and, of course, time together with fellow knitters.
For those who can’t be with us in Nashville, be with us online! We’re producing a professional livestream of Kaffe’s lecture. We’ll email you the link to the livestream one week before the lecture.
Tickets for the in-person event here.

Afterward, we’ll email everybody a link to the recording of Kaffe’s talk, which will be available to view for 48 hours.
Cecelia Returns!
Cecelia Campochiaro, one of the knitting world’s greatest thinkers and teachers, is coming back to MDK in September for a virtual workshop inspired by her brand-new book on reversible knitting. The project is gorgeous, the optional kit is sumptuous—and flying off the shelves. It’s going to be an adventure! Read all about it and reserve your spot here.
The August Calendar is STACKED
Keeping cool and doing cool things—that’s the theme for August. Dip in and join us for all of it or some of it—we’d love to see you.
On Saturday, August 2, we’re hosting an in-person (and in-pup!) event at Nashville’s own Urban Dog Bar. All the details are here on the RSVP form. Ann and Kay will both be there, and we would love to see you.
Looking for other ways to stay cool and crafty this summer? Here’s the virtual class lineup for August.
Friday, August 1: Floating Squares Wrap Mosaic Workshop with Lorilee Beltman
Friday, August 8: Bliss-Bloss Shawl Intarsia Workshop with Ambah O’Brien
Friday, August 15: MDK Summer Camp: Tiny Dogs Virtual Workshop with Anna Hrachovec
Wednesday, August 20: For MDK Society members. The Snippets Show with special guest Jillian Moreno, who knows an astonishing amount about yarn, fiber, spinning.
Reminder: MDK Society members get 10% off all MDK events and in the MDK Shop with the MDK Society coupon code. Punch it in at checkout, and save!
Meanwhile…
We had a big time on MDK this week.
Yesterday a bunch of MDKers spent a jolly afternoon learning how to make mini-me yoke sweaters for pups with the most joyful sweater knitter we know, Dana Williams-Johnson. You can still get in on the fun! Sign up here and we’ll send you the recording. Big fun even if you don’t have a smol doggie.
Is he still MDK’s man in Paris? Franklin Habit finds himself a castaway on an island of his own making.
In honor of Ozzy Osbourne’s farewell concert, Birmingham’s post boxes got an amazing tribute from a local crocheter. We’re so glad Ashleigh-ellan Kavanagh captured the moment for us.
We’ve all been there: Claudia B. Manley reflects on the injured reserve list of knitters. The comments are full of commiseration and cheering-up, in equal measure.
From Ann, a dreamy postcard from Chautauqua.
Kay recommends a riveting podcast: Death of an Artist.
Your Support Is Everything—Thank You!
Seriously grateful that you hang out with us at MDK. In person, at virtual talks and workshops, and in our comments section—we love to connect knitters, and connect with knitters.
One way to support all that goes on here: the MDK Society. Your MDK Society membership will repay you in fun, connection, and community. (And 10% savings on classes and full-price stuff, plus special opportunities.)
Questions? Email us anytime at he***@*****************ng.com, and you’ll get a prompt response from a real live MDK person.
Stay healthy, take care of each other, and knit on.
Love,
Ann and Kay
PS Please forward this Snippets to a friend—we appreciate it so much.
Hello! I would love to attend the Kaffe Fassett event! Where will it be held in Nashville?
