Dear Knitter,

Welcome to your Saturday!

April is here! And so is a lightning-fast flash sale to welcome spring. The lightest, most tender yarn we carry, Rowan’s delicious Kidsilk Haze is on sale this weekend at a sweet 15 percent off.

There are literally thousands of gorgeous designs to make with this forever-fave yarn—including Joji Locatelli’s exercise in flotatious versatility, Gossamer. It’s a scarf, it’s a vest—it’s whatever you want it to be, and it’s a delightfully easy knit. See a thousand possibilities here when you log in to Ravelry.

This offer is good through Monday night, April 8—no coupon code required.

Knitter Hats Are Back

By popular demand, we’ve brought in a fresh batch of snappy, stylish Knitter Hats, in just the right blue. These hats go fast, so get yours while they last.

Zoom with the Famous Spinsters of Spincycle

Such fun! Please join us on Friday, April 12, at noon Eastern, for a delightful hour on Zoom. Our guests will be Rachel Price and Kate Burge-Tibi, founders of Spincycle Yarns—easily one of the most vibrant and fascinating yarnmakers. No two skeins of Spincycle yarns are alike, and we can’t keep it in stock. We’re wildly curious to know how they do it.

Sign up here, and we’ll email you the Zoom link the day of the event. Can’t make it? No worries. We’ll send you a link to the recording so that you can watch it later.

Meanwhile…

We had a big time on MDK this week.

We’re thrilled to welcome beloved author Ann Hood to MDK, and to travel with her to Trevor Crowe and Yasmin Milburn’s wee croft and wool shop on the Isle of Skye.

Speaking of Kidsilk Haze: MDK’s first knitter Nell Ziroli magicked the Love Story Shawl into a fluffy cowl, a bright bit of weightless warmth to carry in your pocket in case of a sudden chill.

Undeterred by a poky start, Ann got busy banging out her own Crowberry Sweater with impressive speed.

It’s not too late: we get a second chance at bobbles.

Leave it to Norwegian superstars Arne & Carlos to come up with something brand new for knitters and music lovers.

There’s no other knitting site like MDK. Every morning, we bring the best writers, teachers, and knitting to you, free of charge. This daily stream of fun, learning, and big-hearted community is only possible because of your purchases from the MDK Shop—thank you!

Questions? Email us anytime at hello@moderndailyknitting.com, and you’ll get a personal response from a real live MDK person.

Stay healthy, take care of each other, and knit on.

Love,

Ann and Kay

The Knitter Hat Is Back

When we saw that a certain haute couture house was selling a swanky interpretation of the classic ball cap, we were inspired to create one for knitters. The MDK Knitter Hat—now in a brand-new, limited colorway—Dusty Indigo! Get yours quick before they’re gone, right here.

Lace Weight Haze

We’ll have Kidsilk Haze at 15% off through Monday. We’d love to send you a small package that turns into an amazing, fluffy treasure.

Or simply get lost in this visual snack of just a few of the color ways we offer in the MDK Shop. It’s the yarn best described as a sigh, a whisper, a silky haze.

Want to divert yourself from whatever onerous thing you were supposed to be doing right now? If you’re a Ravelry member, log in and enjoy a ramble through the most favorited shawls and scarves that use Kidsilk Haze.

Patty Lyons!

For the first time, the Queen of Clever will be teaching a virtual class at MDK. Patty Lyons has more tricks up her sleeve than the Amazing Alakazam. We’re thrilled that she’s cooking up a special class just for us. Register here for this May 10 funfest.

Reader Joan Gavigan puts it best: “I have been to a couple of Patty’s classes at VK Live in NYC. She is a fabulous teacher. You get your money’s worth because she stays on target and gets through a lot of material. By the time you finish the class you REALLY have learned something. The cost of this class is a steal, truly a steal. I’m signing on as soon as I can:)

  • I’m having the same problem with the Spincycle Zoom registration. There must be a glitch.

  • I am unable to sign up for the Spicycle Zoom.

  • I signed up! Rather annoying series of captcha that made me wonder if I knew what a motorcycle or a traffic light or stairs looked like, but done.
