At the risk of turning into a latter-day Paul Revere, forever announcing what’s new from the Brits, I want to shout this from horseback: there’s a new season of Unforgotten! There’s a new season of Unforgotten!

And if your PBS streaming service is anything like mine, some of the six episodes are expiring much more quickly than they usually do. So get a wiggle on; Unforgotten is about a cold case, but it’s not going to stay on ice forever.

Confession: I binged all 6 episodes of Season 6 in one long, late evening of stitching. On a school night!

This is a really good one. While I would always like more Nicola Walker whenever possible, I am no longer tragically miffed that she left the series after Season 4. DCI Jessica James, played by Sinéad Keenanhas excellent awkward chemistry with Sanjeev Bhaskar’s stalwart, softspoken DI Sunny Khan.  Their working and personal relationship is the heart of the show, and it’s clicking now.

The way these procedural crime-solvers go, we begin by meeting a whole bunch of unrelated characters living complicated lives, and we pretend to ourselves that we don’t know why in the world we are peeping in on them.

In Season 6 of Unforgotten, the gaggle is fascinating and the parts are exceedingly well written and well acted.

In particular, I loved the on-edge and excellent Victoria Hamilton (aka Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother in The Crown) as the victim’s widow.

Each of the first five episodes ends with a well-crafted cliffhanger. And if you’re staying up until 2 a.m., you can jump off those cliffs immediately—one more row!

  • I just discovered this series and am on season 4. It has made for a great knitting companion.

  • Excellent production! And I completely agree with you about Victoria Hamilton. PBS is my favorite channel offering many more interesting programs than regularly scheduled TV.

  • This series is so good. I just finished the second espisode of this season and might binge the rest today.

  • I just love when I see a “Knit to This” and know immediately it’s a recommendation from Kay. I actually play a little game when I get the e-mail notification “I bet this is from Kay!”. I will watch “Unforgotten” for two reasons- Kay recommended it and it stars Sanjeev Bhaskar. I have been tempted when it appears on my Masterpiece feed. I discovered Sanjeev on “Top Gear” https://youtu.be/JwqVYKyYwd8?si=7Tpr2aHeuNiSNgA5
(apologies if the link doesn’t work) and have watched his offerings on one of my favorite YouTube channels “Letters Live” https://youtu.be/pOQYtGBUsxE?si=WjXORo4PXykUbb80 (again, apologies). In both cases do a manual YouTube search!

I was looking for a new British series as I am about at the end of Ardal O’Hanlon’s stint on “Death in Paradise”.

This will be a very Kay-centric day as I am casting on a log cabin throw for travel knitting.

    Cheers!
