It’s hard not to be inspired when working inside a warehouse full of amazing yarn. Ever since the very first tiny sample skein of Atlas came through our doors, I’ve been unable to knit with anything else. It’s actually becoming a problem as I now have a streak that cannot be broken (á la Wordle—current streak 238 TYVM). Ideal weight, texture, and color? For me, it’s always Atlas.

For weeks at MDK HQ, Ann spoke of Amy Christoffers’s Pressed Flowers Shawl and how we should make an Atlas version of it, and that’s when I realized I could both have my cake and eat it too. I would be able to knit with the bold, dreamy Spincycle Dream State—that I’d been eyeing for months—without having to break my Knit-with-Atlas streak!

I worked a small swatch to see how the mosaic pattern would look since it’s been years since my last attempt at mosaic stitch was abandoned in the dustiest corner of my basement studio. Even after reading through the pattern and scouring all the projects on Ravelry, I couldn’t quite figure out how the colors would play out until I started knitting it. After a false start on too-small needles, the project just flew off my needles in a mere couple of weeks.

This is Atlas in Truffle (4 skeins) and Dream state in (top down) Rusted Rainbow, Ghost Ranch, nostalgia, and Stay Ready.

Now, what’s my next project? I already have the perfect yarn in mind . . .

  • OMG that Pressed Flower Shawl is GORGEOUS!!!! So as I began looking thru other patterns by her I just had to stop & say the Pressed Flower Cardigan!!! I made Beals quite some time ago, & quite likely others…

  • Your shawl is beautiful, and I love so many of Amy’s designs, but what made me gasp out loud is that I was traveling yesterday and completely forgot to Wordle. Back to 1.

    • Love so many of her designs! I have made several, most recently the Felix pullover. Albers shawl is now on the top of my favorites list. Looking forward to casting on!

  • The Lundenberg pullover is my favorite. Beautiful yoke!

  • I have Knitted a couple of her designs. One that I like to wear is Lovage.

  • My Shakerag sweater is my favorite summer top. I knit it in a delightful orange, not a shocking loud orange but a pretty clementine orange. I wear it a lot and it is a perfect fit. So I must choose this one, which wasn’t an easy choice!

  • Gosh, so many. I’ve made a list of eight, including Shakerag (which I may attempt someday in a solid version). I can see the beauty of Pressed Flowers especially in those Atlas yarns. That is an artist who chose those colors what with all those bright greens and other vivid shades pushing for attention. But my first Christoffers love was the Laurel cardigan. I love the placement of the cable motif, the fit, the just-enough drape, the length. It hit all my fit and flattery requirements plus it was interesting.

  • Cali blanket really speaks to me. I would love to tackle that one day…

  • I love the Felix cardigan —the perfect plain sweater! The Albers shawl is divine.

  • Shakerag Top

  • There are a couple of cardigans with pockets I am drawn to, but I love the Pressed Flowers collection because I am dying to try the stitch pattern. I don’t really want a shawl in that triangle shape so I was glad when the hat came out. But then the cardigan came out. But I really want the cardigan in DK weight because I have the perfect DK yarn for the stitch pattern.

  • The Shakerag top! Fun knit, great fit. I have made 2 and I know there’s at least one more in my future.

  • Hard to pick! Pressed Flowers shawl is at the top at the moment.

  • Ariana is crochet but I still have it on my must do list.

  • Pressed flowers.

  • Definitely the Shakerag Top

  • My favorite patterns change all the time, but your pressed flowers shawl is gorgeous and has risen to the top!

  • You’ve inspired me. I’m going to try the Pressed Flowers pattern with either a deep green or deep blue background. Pressed Flowers speaks to me.

  • love the pressed flowers hat — to go with the cardigan, shawl, and is there now a pullover? what a designer.

  • Shakerag top!

  • Alfama is my favorite design!

  • So very hard to choose! I happened to open Ravelry for something else entirely when the Pressed Flowers Shawl first released, and I was immediately captivated, so that is probably my favorite. I made the shawl then and have my yarn for the hat and cardigan ready and waiting, along with the Albers Shawl. My Shakerag WIP is patiently awaiting my return and now I want to add some sweaters based on these comments!

  • I love knitting her hats

  • Any and all. Shakerag

  • The Acer cardigan is my favorite; Second favorite is the Larch cardigan

  • The Felix cardigan is my favorite!

  • Felix Cardigan. My dear sister-in-law and I planned a mini KAL. She finished hers with a small intarsia seagull at the back hem. Mine? Not as stunning due to some modifications I made to the already-perfect pattern, but the memory of the messaging back and forth (we were 1000 miles apart) makes it an experience I treasure.

  • Pressed flowers hat

  • Pressed flowers shawl – gorgeous

  • There’s just something about Feather in Your Cap . . .

  • My favorite Amy Christoffers design is the Felix pullover. I have not made it but it’s on my list. It’s simple with elegant design elements. Her pressed flowers. Shawl is a close second.

  • Albers Shawl and would love to try pressed flowers as I have never done a mosaic

  • Of the three patterns by Amy Christoffers that I have knit, (Felix Pullover, Rooibos and Acer Cardigan) my heart is with Acer. It was the first cabled sweater I ever knit, and though it was a big learning curve for me, I loved how it turned out. Eight years and it still fits and wears well.

  • The Chiara sweater pattern is beautiful. So many great ones to choose from though. Hard to pick just one.

  • I have always loved the Albers.

  • Pressed flowers shawl. I wanted to knit it for so long, and this fall I finally did. I used Dream State also. The background yarn is green, and the Dream State is white with fades of pink and light blue. My shawl looks like flowers (pressed?) on a background of green lawn.

  • Donna hat and cowl. Just thinking about how cozy they would be in atlas makes me drool a little.

  • The Arbela scarf looks pretty stunning!

  • Love the Felix pullover…..Felix cardigan….. pressed flowers! Amy’s designs are great

  • With so many options how do I pick just one? So instead I’ll choose one from each category. Cardigan: campus jacket. • When I sorted Amy’s Ravelry designer page by MY favorites, I had 13. I actually knit the Breckon cardigan she did for Brooklyn Tweed (which I wear regularly). • Savage Heart Cardigan has been in my queue forever.

  • Pressed flowers shawl – I picked up a skein of Suburban Stitcher at the DFW Fiberfest to go with something in my stash. Now I just need to finish gift knitting & my wip’s so I can cast it on!

  • For shawls – Plover. For cardigans – Acer. Both are fabulous

  • I am really wanting to CO a Felix Cardigan

  • Shakerag Top. A classic. A friend and I are having an ongoing discussion about the perfect T-shirt. Shakerag is a strong contender.

Of course, while reading this post I have added several items to my project list, with the Pressed Flowers Shawl moving to the top. Anything Spincycle…and is really giving us the full richness of Atlas Truffle.

  • Ariana, because it’s an attractive twist on the Granny Square Sweater. Which I also want

  • Definitely pressed flowers shawl!

  • This is hard because there are so many beautiful designs to choose from. Because I can’t just choose from all of the colorful designs, I’m going to go with the plain and simple, yet absolutely lovely, Faience. It’s a basic and can be worn dressed up or dressed down. And it works up very nicely with the Berocco Pima.
