You’ve Got Snippets: September 6, 2025

Dear knitter,
Happy Saturday!
What are you doing on October 4? We’re making plans for a flat-out party at MDK World Headquarters, and we hope to see you there.
What’s the occasion?Artist Kaffe Fassett, our lifelong knitting hero, is coming to Nashville! Make your plans now to join us in Nashville for the in-person celebration with Kaffe Fassett, or tune in to a professionally produced livestream of his talk. Inspiration galore for us all who knit, quilt, or needlepoint, near or far.
Tickets for the in-person event here. Tickets for the livestream here.
Looking for a cozy place to stay in Nashville? We’ve set up a discounted-rate block of rooms at The Gilmore, a new boutique hotel in the vibrant, walkable 12 South neighborhood.
For one weekend, The Gilmore will be the knitting hotel we keep dreaming of. Each room is lovely and has a full kitchen and ample space for knitting and any new stash you pick up. There are cozy gathering spots throughout the hotel to sit and knit.
Just for you, we’ve negotiated a really good rate for October 3, 4, and 5. Use code GILMOREKNITS30 when booking your room through The Gilmore to receive the special rate. Click here for more details and to book your room.
Back to School—Knitting School!
We’ve got three really special events in September. Take a look, and join us for all of it or some of it—we’d love to see you.
Next Friday, September 12, 2025: a virtual workshop on ladderback jacquard with a leading champion of the technique, Amy Snell. In just two hours, while making a sweet little hat, you’ll learn how to do it—and you’ll wonder how you ever did colorwork without it.
Read all about it and sign up here.
Wednesday, September 17, 2025: For MDK Society members, it’s the Snippets Show, with special guest Kate Atherley, the pride of Toronto and one of the knitting world’s true wizards. Kate will be answering member questions and generally enlightening and inspiring us, followed by a happy half hour in which we stop recording, turn on everybody’s microphone, and gather in break-out rooms to chat with each other. As always, find the Zoom link on the MDK Society private page.
Friday, September 26: Reversible Cables: Virtual Workshop with Cecelia Campochiaro. A few sumptuous Ito yarn kits remain—or you can opt for the class pass only, and bring your own yarn for the versatile Wriley Shawl.
Reminder: MDK Society members get 10% off all MDK events and in the MDK Shop with the MDK Society coupon code. Punch it in at checkout, and save!
Meanwhile…
We had a big time on MDK this week.
Dana Williams-Johnson’s New York Liberty tribute sweater is all we got and all we need. Judging from the comments, a lot of other teams will be getting the tribute sweater love.
You can be a seaming superhero, with part two of Kate Atherley’s invaluable seaming tutorial. (Here’s part one.)
At MDK World Headquarters, our pattern scout Ashley Balding is in close proximity to Lolabean Yarn Co.’s beautiful yarns. She couldn’t help thinking about the great sweaters they could become.
The knitting that happens when you feel like screaming.
On the MDK Tchotchke Trail, artist Hannah Jones is driving the lead wagon.
Kay gets it now: the Maine thing.
