Dear Knitter,

Happy Saturday!

It’s happening soon, very soon. Our colorful knitting and quilting and artist heroes Kaffe Fassett and Brandon Mably have landed safely in the U.S., and they’re headed to Nashville for a long-awaited visit one week from today on Saturday, October 4.

Spending time with these two is a special treat, well worth a last-minute jaunt! Make a plan now to join us in Nashville for an in-person celebration with Kaffe and Brandon—or tune in to a professionally produced livestream of Kaffe’s talk. You will carry his words with you always, and think of them whenever you’re making something beautiful.

Tickets for the in-person event here. Tickets for the livestream here.

Looking for a cozy place to stay in Nashville? We’ve set up a discounted-rate block of rooms at The Gilmore, a new boutique hotel in the vibrant, walkable 12 South neighborhood.

Just for you, we’ve negotiated a really good rate for October 3, 4, and 5. Use code GILMOREKNITS15 when booking your room through The Gilmore to receive the special rate. Click here for more details and to book your room.

Cecelia Was Here—Last Call!

Yesterday afternoon was awesome; we enjoyed a rare opportunity to tickle our brains and build our skills with one of the great knitting minds, Cecelia Campochiaro, whose latest book explores reversible knitting.

Reversible Cables: Virtual Workshop with Cecelia Campochiaro may have already happened, but you can still learn with Cecelia, via the recording. Act now, as we have to stop selling it after this weekend.

A few sumptuous Ito Yarn kits remain, in a glorious walnut shade—all the way from Japan, via Germany, no small feat these days—or you can opt for the recording only, and use your own yarn for the versatile Wriley Shawl.

Meanwhile…

We had a big time on MDK this week.

At long last, tickets for Nash Yarn Fest 2026 are finally ON SALE. We’ve got so much fun in store for April 17 and 18, 2026—two full festival days, plus a HOOTENANNY! We’d love to see you there. Read all about it and see all your ticket options here. Anticipation is a big part of the fun!

There is nothing quite as sexy as watching the man you love knit—that’s what Ann Hood said

Adrienne Martini brings us a rugged report from upstate New York: what happens when a small town’s yarn shop burns down

Reporter and author Marian Burros has left us, but the recipe she made famous will be loved by bakers and holiday-makers until the end of time.

This riveting 3-part documentary will get you onboarded to Kay’s big seasonal passion.

Your Support Is Everything—Thank You!

Seriously grateful that you hang out with us at MDK. In person, at virtual talks and workshops, and in our comments section—we love to connect knitters, and connect with knitters.

One way to support all that goes on here: the MDK Society. Your MDK Society membership will repay you in fun, connection, and community. (And 10% savings on classes and full-price stuff, plus special opportunities.)

Questions? Email us anytime at he***@*****************ng.com, and you’ll get a prompt response from a real live MDK person.

Stay healthy, take care of each other, and knit on.

Love,

Ann and Kay
