Dear knitter,

Welcome to your Saturday!

The biggest news of the week was the designer reveal for MDK Field Guide No. 24. Quick, go see who it is! We’ll wait for you to come back.

Exciting, right?

If you subscribed to the 2023 Field Guide series, your advance copy of Field Guide No. 24 shipped out from MDK World Headquarters on Thursday, and will arrive in your mailbox any minute now. Look for your shipping confirmation email—it contains a download link to give you instant access to the ebook edition.

If you’d like to be among the first to receive Field Guide No. 24, and also receive the other two Field Guides of 2023, subscribe right here. We are so grateful for the support of the Field Guide subscribers; we simply couldn’t do what we do, without you. As our thanks, Field Guide subscribers get 10 percent off, every time they shop with us, throughout 2023. All the details are here.

MDK Gems Time—This One Is a Humdinger

As if the week weren’t exciting enough, it’s also MDK Gems time. This month’s MDK Gem is one of the most popular designs we’ve ever published: the Shakerag Top. When you order the yarn for it, we’ll give you the entire ebook edition of Field Guide No. 6: Transparency, which includes this Shakerag Top pattern, plus three additional Amy Christoffers designs. A $9.95 value.

And we’ve got two beautiful yarns for the Shakerag Top. Scroll down and see!

Meanwhile . . .

We had a big time on MDK this week.

It’s Me-Made-May, and Claudia B. Manley took us deep into the roots of the slow fashion movement. Wearing what you make can change the world.

Hot off the presses: snappy short rows meet bold bands of colorwork in Nell Ziroli’s latest accessory design, perfect for scrap-sharing.

When it comes to knitting projects, loving both of you is not breaking any rules. Kay gave us an update on two fantastic knits that are both on her needles right now.

Don’t mind the subtitles! You can get a lot of stockinette cranked while watching murders getting solved in Paris.

Remember to enter this week’s giveaway by midnight Central time Sunday night. The prize: a MYSTERY Bag o’ Yarn! (Get it?) We get to see and feel so many great yarns when we make choices about which ones to bring into the MDK Shop. Let us surprise you.

Thanks for everything you do to support MDK. Our mission is to elevate the knitting life, by publishing something new every day of the year, plus exciting designers, friendly community, and a first-class customer experience. Your purchases, comments, and shares help us keep doing this thing that we love to do.

MDK Gems

Let the sun shine in! This month’s MDK Gems are Amy Christoffers’s wildly popular Shakerag Top and two perfect yarns for knitting it up.

With your purchase of Summerlite 4ply or Sylph, we’re including an ebook download of Field Guide No. 6: Transparency that includes Amy’s Shakerag Top and three more light-filled designs for spring and summer.

Rowan’s Summerlite 4ply, in 100 percent cotton, is our go-to yarn for summer tops. You’ll find yarn requirements for each Shakerag Top size here.

Cashmere and linen, together. Sylph creates a fabric that we’ve never seen before, light and summery. Click on over here to find out how many skeins you’ll need for your Shakerag Top.

Take a closer look at Amy’s designs for Field Guide No. 6 in the MDK Pattern Library right here. We can’t love this new dimension of MDK enough. It’s where you’ll find useful notes and resources to support you, and every inspirational post to delight you as you knit Field Guide patterns.

  • I don’t understand why you send out two (2) of the same Snippets each Saturday. Aren’t they repetitive?

    • Hi, Barbara. Since you’re signed up for both the Snippets email list AND the daily notifications email list, yes, you’re getting the same information twice. Snippets has been doing double duty as the Saturday post for several months now (so more people can see it). You’ll get both as long as you’re signed up for both of those lists. I wouldn’t unsubscribe from either, though, since we could change the nature of Snippets in the future and then you’d miss those. You can always just delete one when you see it in your mailbox. It’s that easy!

  • Can’t wait to get my field guide

  • So much to cover, darting here and there, like in a maze and not sure where I’ve entered, traveled, and or exited. This is possibly the most jam packed Snippets ever! ❤️❤️❤️
