You’ve Got Snippets: January 24, 2026

Dear Knitter,
Happy Saturday!
I bet you saw this coming! We are thrilled to announce that on March 6, we’ll be hosting a virtual workshop with Rüdiger Schlömer, who’s captured our imagination.
Say Hello to Knit Hello
We’re wild about Rüdiger Schlömer’s new knittable typeface: Knit Hello.
With Rüdiger’s Knit Hello Specimanual as our guide, we can knit letters, numbers, symbols, and accent marks—we can make up words and phrases, and knit a poem—or the dictionary—if we want. It’s an exhilarating, addicting kind of knitting—all play.
The learning curve is short, but guidance really helps to get started.

The Banging Out Begins on Friday!
The most popular knitalong of the MDK year, Bang Out a Sweater, starts next Friday, January 30. If speed is your thing, you’ll have a brand-new Waffle Pullover by February 28—or take your time and savor every stitch of this sweet sweater.
Read all about the knitalong here. Sign up for the three-part workshop with the great Lorilee Beltman here. The yarn? Stashbust a DK-weight yarn, or have a look at our Jane. (We have swatches galore to show you color combos.)
MDK Society members: use your membership coupon code to save 10 percent on the workshop and your yarn. And be sure to come hang out in the MDK Society Lounge, where the Bang Out conversation is on!
Earlybird Price: Extended
It’s true: we’ve extended earlybird pricing on the MDK Society until the end of January.
Join the MDK Society now so you can enjoy the special guests coming to The Snippets Show in the new year. Last Wednesday we had a great conversation with Joji Locatelli, recorded and sent to Society members to enjoy at their convenience. On February 25, we’ll welcome Stephen West! And so much more fun to come in 2026.
Read about all the benefits of membership, and sign up here. Thank you so much for your support.
Meanwhile…
We had a big time on MDK this week.
From Franklin Habit, extraordinary writing about an extraordinary textile exhibition in Paris right now.
Jessica Caldwell has tips on how to adjust your knitting process to the brain you have, rather than the other way around.
Nia Smith brings us a new book that gathers the stories of women’s work, how it can heal, and how it can build.
Bleary eyed, she emerges, running on Belvita fumes, dizzy: Ann made a blanket.
To hear, to read: Martin Luther King, Jr.’s Nobel Prize acceptance speech in 1964.
Your Support Is Everything—Thank You!
Every day, we see readers engaging with each other on MDK, and with the writers who bring us their expertise and point of view. It makes our day to see these connections happening. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all your interest in what’s going on here at MDK.
Questions? Email us anytime at he***@*****************ng.com, and you’ll get a prompt response from a real live MDK person.
Stay healthy, take care of each other, and knit on.
Love,
Ann and Kay
