You’ve Got Snippets: December 6, 2026

Dear knitter,
Happy Saturday!
It’s party time! You’re cordially invited, in person or in Zoom-ness, to MDK’s jolly holiday hangout on Sunday, December 14. Here’s what’s in store.
If you’re in Nashville…
Join us at MDK World Headquarters. Friends, shopping, snacks. No charge!
Of course, there will be sitting and knitting—bring your current project and get ready to share with everybody. Folks are coming from all over to our knitting parties; this one is going to be superfestive.
When: Sunday, December 14, from noon until 5 p.m.
Where: 441 Atlas Drive, Nashville, TN 37211
If you’re at home…
We’ll be celebrating online as well. Join us on Zoom from 2-3:30 Eastern time. RSVP here to receive an email with the Zoom link on Dec. 14.
We will be in breakout rooms for some of the time, the better to chat, help, and get to know each other. Just old-school, real-time fun!
During the Zoom, Kay will be knitting a holiday garland using the brand-new knitable typeface from Switzerland, Knit Hello. If you’d like to knit along (totally optional!) find out what you’ll need to bring in Kay’s post here. And order the downloadable ebook here.
Math Help from Kate Atherley
Yesterday we had a terrific virtual workshop: Math for Knitters with Kate Atherley. Kate showed us how to become more confident readers—and modifiers—of knitting patterns. No math talent was required—if we had that, we wouldn’t need the class!
If you feel like you missed it, no you didn’t: sign up this weekend, we’ll send you the class recording link to watch and learn at your convenience. Please act now—we have to take the listing down on Monday.
Attention Holiday Shoppers
Time is fluidly fleeting and flying! Looking for a great gift for friends, family, or yourself? Cozy up this weekend with our Holiday Shop lookbook. (Here it is!) Order now to give it a chance to arrive before the holiday.
Get on the Bus for the Last Class Before the Holidays
Next Friday, December 12, will be our last virtual workshop of 2025: Journaling for the New Year with Felix Ford. In this brand-new edition of her popular journaling course, Felix will lead us through uplifting and non-perfectionist ways to create a soulful visual touchstone for the turning of the year. Included: a download of Felix’s printable sticker-stamps, to help make your journal truly your own.
Meanwhile…
We had a big time on MDK this week.
We thought you might be casting on some gift hats right about now. Here’s Kate Atherley with priceless tips on getting them to fit.
Joy is never ugly, OK? Ashleigh-ellan Kavanagh on the festive, fun, and warmhearted history of Christmas sweaters.
Journaling fun just got funner: Felix Ford showed us how to make custom rubber stamps from erasers.
Photo adventurer Gale Zucker on her latest dream assignment: documenting the artists of the Nature Printing Society at an idyllic mountain retreat.
Your hobby may be niche, but have you ever tried to ribbon at a cutthroat table setting competition?
Stop, drop, and knit a wee holiday banner with Kay.
Your Support Is Everything—Thank You!

PS What’s that gorgeous scarf up top? It’s the project for Natalie Chanin’s virtual workshop on adding beads to your hand-sewing, coming Jan. 23. Please sign up now—we want to be sure you receive your (beautiful!) kit in plenty of time for the workshop.
