Knit to This
Missy Raines and Allegheny

Have we bragged enough about Nash Yarn Fest‘s headlining musical act, Grammy-nominated and ten-time International Bluegrass Music Association Bass Player of the Year Missy Raines?
We have not! In fact we need to brag a bit more about our amazing good luck in booking such an incredible star. If you were there, you know—Missy Raines and Friends’ performances were awesome, joyful, and inspiring.

Tuning up.
One small part of our delight was witnessing Missy’s amusement at finding herself playing a yarn festival. It was her first one, and she was impressed! And we were all “No big deal, Missy, this is just what knitters do—they show up in great numbers and have a good time, and they sure do love you.”
Another fun thing was the gobsmacked reaction of hardcore bluegrass fans in the crowd, some of whom may have been what we call “non-knitting partners.” One actually said to us, “Do you know who she is?” Why yes, we do, and isn’t it fantastic!
If you want to relive some of the songs Missy and friends performed at Nash Yarn Fest, or just enjoy knitting and tapping your toes to some wonderful tracks, we have good news. Missy Raines & Allegheny have just released their new record, Love & Trouble.
Listen to it here.
And she’s on tour this summer, all over the place, so don’t miss the chance to see her live.
You’re welcome. We sincerely hope to bring Missy back to the NYF stage. Quick—somebody knit her something—it can’t hurt!
What a talent! Will be buying her songs
Is it a coincidence that she begins the tour in Cashmere, WA? Hmmm. I think MDK can take credit for that.
I’m knitting to this! Music to my eyes and ears. Thank you and them so much, heart, heart.
They were amazing! Thank you for sharing.
Cashmere, WA! Just 2 hours from my house! Stevenson, WA! Just 2.5 hours away! We will try to make it to one or the other, for sure. I am gobsmacked, too!
Listening to Missy and Friends was an unexpected and greatly appreciated bonus of the fest! I didn’t know I was a bluegrass fan until I realized how much I enjoyed this music. It’s always the right choice to experience the ‘best of’ something new to you and I have no doubt that what we were treated to at NYF!!
We will be hearing them in 3 weeks in Cashmere (home of Aplets and Cotlets, btw) at our fabulous annual Wenatchee Bluegrass Festival. It’s been our Father’s Day weekend tradition for many years. Always a great lineup
Aaahhh…Bluegrass. ❤️ Back in my 20s (I’ll be 80 this year) I was part of a bluegrass band for a couple of years. As a singer. I didn’t play any instruments well enough to play along with geniuses in the band. Two of my band mates went on to perform with lots of famous bands and musicians. Both were astounding players and teachers. A few years ago I discovered Bluegrass junction on Sirius radio and it brought those memories back. It’s #1 on my car radio. I’m so glad you had a great band to enjoy and to introduce new fans to the joy of bluegrass. Yay!!
