THIS IS NOT A DRILL!

Now is the time to cast-on Amy Christoffers’s extraordinary Waffle Pullover, from MDK Field Guide No. 29: Mosaic, our official Bang Out a Sweater 2026.

In theory, you could have a finished garment by the end of February. Really, though, take as long as you desire!

(And for those who got a jump on things: it’s cool. We understand. Your project is your project!)

My balls are wound and ready.

Frost (bottom) will be color A; Aubergene (top) will be color B.

(My ball-winding can use some work, frankly, but it’s done and I am glad.)

Our three-session virtual class begins at noon TODAY, starring the marvelous Lorilee Beltman. No worries if you miss it; if you sign up here, you’ll get access to session one and future sessions as they happen. We’re recording all three for your continued learning pleasure.

We’ve all been swatching like maniacs, because it’s just so fun to see what happens with every combo we can think of. You can see most of ’em here.

Of course, you can use whatever yarn you like, but if Jane is piquing your curiosity, you’l find 22 colors of it here. Note that the undyed color, Yorkshire, will be back in stock at the end of February. We’re finding Frost (above), a light gray, to be a fine replacement.

If you’re on social media, tag your work with #bangoutawaffle. It’ll help us all find sweaters to swoon over and cheer each other along.

Consider this the rope drop moment. Get to knittin’, y’all!

  • I’m ready to go.
Your color combination is fabulous. I’m anxious to see what everyone has chosen.

  • I was busy swatching but have gotten derailed by the “Melt the ICE Hat”. I have one well underway and another to make first. Oh well. Winter lasts a long time here in Colorado!

  • I ordered my Jane yarn a bit late, and then came the ice storm that hit in Nashville. But I just got email that my yarn has shipped! Bless all of your hearts for getting the orders out in the midst of all that terrible weather. Thank you thank you!

  • I received permission from Ann to start early, as I broke my wrist and could not knit for several weeks and am VERY slow still, so I’m well on my way! I’m using Spincycle Metamorphic in a beautiful lilac grey for my main color and Nocturne (in Sleepover) and Dyed in the Wool (Dirty Little Secret) for my B color. I’m loving this pattern and how it’s turning out!!!! Here’s to banging another great sweater!

  • I most likely will not compete my second bang out by the end of February, but I am casting on anyway, using Lolabean yarn in El Bosque (color A) and Audrey II (color B).

I am already in the throes of a heavily cabled sweater for my son. The sleeves are done and the back is about 8 inches along. It’s a high priority because he’s never asked for a sweater before. Caps and the occasional scarf, yes.

I don’t know if I will finish his before Spring, but I will do my best. The bang out is just fun and a break from all the cables!

  • How do I get my invite to the zoom meeting?

  • I can’t get in on Zoom. Can you please check to make sure that my name wasn’t deleted.

    • Hi Nancy! I just sent you an email with the info.

  • WOULD LIKE SOMEONE TO GET IN TOUCH WITH MME REGARDING MY MEMBERSHIP.
    THANK YOU

  • Have swatched but will finish my Melt the ICE hat, in solidarity with the people of Minnesota, first. Looking forward to seeing all the sweaters.
