You’ve Got Snippets: November 8, 2026

Dear Knitter,
Happy Saturday!
Ten years. It’s a lot!
As we celebrate a full decade of MDK’s free daily posts, we reflect on the giant rabbit hole of knitting love, learning, and lore that our contributors have created. Given the sharp decline in knitting publications, the knitting community depends on us more than ever. We couldn’t keep going without the support of the MDK Society—please join us for 2026.
Brush Up Your Snapshots
We had a lively and content-rich two hours yesterday afternoon, when photographer Gale Zucker brought us her revelation-filled virtual class, Photographing Your Knits. Gale’s tips and tricks came just in time for documenting all of our holiday knittings and doings.
If you missed it and have photo-FOMO, this weekend you can still purchase the recording of the workshop here. Your confirmation email will include a PDF with the link to the recording.
In Nashville News…
Our dream of a hotel filled with knitters for Nash Yarn Fest next April is almost a reality—only a third of the rooms are still available. If your interest is piqued, read about The Gilmore here, and book as soon as you can.
Meanwhile…
We had a big time on MDK this week.
She’s back! Our Wear What You Make hero Sonya Philip on the nonlinear path to her first knitting design.
If anybody could have knitted a special sweater for her alma mater’s homecoming, it’s Dana Williams-Johnson: a tale of taking off self-imposed pressure.
Savory or sweet, nothing says lovin’ like a Sarah Ross galette in the oven.
What happened when Hannah Jones’s mom sent her a greenhouse kit and a literal ton of rocks called Alabama Sunset.
Your Support Is Everything—Thank You!
Seriously grateful that you hang out with us at MDK. In person, at virtual talks and workshops, and in our comments section—we love to connect knitters, and connect with knitters.
Questions? Email us anytime at he***@*****************ng.com, and you’ll get a prompt response from a real live MDK person.
Stay healthy, take care of each other, and knit on.
Love,
Ann and Kay
