You’ve Got Snippets: March 8, 2025

Dear knitter,
Happy Saturday!
We heard you, and thanks to our friends at the School of Making, we’re thrilled to give the people what they want: a class with the great Natalie Chanin that focuses on embroidery, using her revolutionary—and surprisingly simple—grid stitching cards.
Join us on May 28 for a two-hour virtual workshop with Natalie. This workshop is loaded: it includes a beautiful materials kit, plus your own copy of Natalie’s groundbreaking book, The Geometry of Hand-Sewing. Read all about it, and sign up here.
Will We See You in Nashville Next Week?
We sure hope so! Friday and Saturday, March 14-15, our first-ever Nash Yarn Fest is coming. It’s not too late to get yourself a ticket now—and we’ll be selling them at the door, so come on down! Read all about this beautiful opportunity for good times with our beloved knitting community on the Nash Yarn Fest website.
Meanwhile …
We had a big time on MDK this week.
Sweater spotting: what will Dana Williams-Johnson be wearing—or at least knitting—at Nash Yarn Fest?
That ball of yarn is going to run out at some point. Kate Atherley has good advice on joining in new yarn.
Jessica Caldwell longed for a local community of knitters—so she started one. You can, too!
Four letters, four knitters, four completely different ways of doing a thing.
Ann preaches what we all need to practice: how to support the makers who make the fiber arts so vibrant and fulfilling for us all.
Adrienne Martini has a favorite long series to read or listen to—what’s yours? Knitters want to know!
Your Support Is Everything—Thank You!
At MDK, making knitters happy is all we think about, every single day. If you love what we’re doing, it’s vital—and easy—to support MDK.
One great way, of course: join the MDK Society. And also, whenever you shop with MDK, sign up for a workshop, or share our content with others, you’re directly supporting the yarnmakers, artisans, teachers, and writers that we feature here. Thank you!
Questions? Email us anytime at hello@moderndailyknitting.com, and you’ll get a prompt response from a real live MDK person.
Stay healthy, take care of each other, and knit on.
Love,
Ann and Kay
PS Please forward this Snippets to a knitter friend—we appreciate it so much!

Off to a Roaring Start

2025 is the year of a brand-new adventure: the MDK Society. The benefits of charter membership are many—and we will be adding more fun all year long.
Members save 10 percent on our wonderful virtual workshops, and in the MDK Shop, throughout 2025.
What we’re most excited about: virtual events and hangouts for Society members. Each month we’ll put on a new edition of the Snippets Show, featuring special guests and coming to you via Zoom, plus knit nights, the MDK Lounge, and more. This is the knitting community we’ve dreamed about.
Our first year is off to a great start, and we hope you’ll join us.
So far, our Snippets Show guests have been Arne and Carlos, Franklin Habit, and Natalie Chanin—the video recordings of our chats are available to all MDK Society members, indefinitely!
Big news: Our special guest at the next Snippets Show on April 9 will be the delightful Jeanette Sloan. A contributor to MDK, Knitter and Knitting Magazine, and prolific designer. Check out the 170 designs in her Ravelry portfolio.
Please take a moment to sign up now.
