Get Ready! Let’s All Knit Erika Knight
Maybe it’s the times, but we are finding a lot of comfort in knitting with other knitters who are all knitting the same thing.
We’ve just completed a knitalong for the designs of Cecelia Campochiaro in Field Guide No. 19: Marls. So much marling! And the Banging Out of Daytrippers during February was one of the best joyrides we’ve had in a while.
Now, we’re here to announce the imminent start of a knitalong where we dive into the designs of Erika Knight, whose five patterns in Field Guide No. 20: Atlas are tempting us mightily. We hope you’ll join us for a season of knitting that soothes the soul. It’s been rough to wait until launch date to knit these designs, so we have a lot of pent-up energy right now. A bustling beehive of knitting is on the horizon! C’mon!

Yarn? Whatever you like, as with all our knitalongs. Our Atlas yarn is the yarn that appears in this Field Guide, so we’ll just say that we think it’s a fine option.

Hmmm. Thinking about the bag with a handful of the Euroflax minis that I bought just because I liked the colors.
I’ve decided to make the scarf. Just got my atlas yarn in natural/cream. I felt like it was a lot of scarf for a bold color and mainly I like white. I’m not sure if I am sold on the asymmetrical ends but I love everything else. I saw a comment about the scarf that talked about having the fringe as a way to even out the asymmetry and I like this idea so it sold me as I am all about a big scarf.
Oooh, that sounds like a very interesting idea! I may have to try that, too!
I loove the Knight hood. And the name!
Love the pullover- but can’t decide on the color
I am knitting one of her baby sweater patterns right now. One of my knitting goals is to become a better sweater knitter. Perhaps the Old Friend Pullover in pear is calling to me.
I have ordered the Field Guide #20 several days ago, and received neither confirmation nor the Field Guide. Has my order been received, or is it just slow?

Will the Knight Hood fit men?
Here are the knitted measurements, Susan: Back length to shoulder: 9.75” (25 cm)
Shoulder width: 13.75” (35 cm).
Uh, does anyone have a man in their home that they could measure? I would be making the hoods for charity donation.
I haven’t received my field guide either – has it been mailed yet? I subscribed to them for the first time this year and am really looking forward to getting them.
Forgive me for not coloring in the lines but would the Old Friend be doable in the round? Bottom up-separate at armholes?
What’s a pattern if not an open-ended road map??? If you’re game to try Old Friend in the round, I say go for it. I’ve heard rumors of people knitting the sleeves in the round, too, rather than flat as in the pattern.

How do I find out if my subscription to Field zguides is used up?
Count me in for a Scrap Tote! Yarn will be either Felted Tweed or Lamb’s Pride (major stash hold over from my felting days). I may also try felting it, depending on shrinkage. Might eliminate the need for a lining – although a lining would be super cute in a contrasting color with a nice pocket for stuff! xo
Oh!!!! How great is this! I actually bought the Tawny pattern from her a while ago, but never started. I have a beautiful cotton yarn that I was going to use for another design, but now that I see this I kind of want to switch and finally knit that Tawny oversized T…. 🙂
I actually finished the back of the Old Friend Pullover last night. I had some hand spun baby yak from Mongolia that I had planned on using for a Swoncho, but it just wasn’t the yarn/pattern combo. The yarn is too “rustic” and has a definite halo effect going on, the cables were losing the battle to shine. When I received FG 20 and saw the Old Friend I knew THAT would be perfect for the yarn. Fingers crossed that I have enough yarn.
I can’t wait to meet my Old Friend. Love the simple style of this pattern!
Is it possible to knit the Knight Hood with straight needles ?
The Knight Hood here as well, with Atlas yarn. Not much need for here (San Diego) however I give everything I knit away so I’m sure someone living on the streets can use.
Making the Old Friend Pullover in Mouse!!
The Knight hood in lime green for the hood part and eggplant for the “body” of the hood.
