Dear everybody,

As we observe Thanksgiving Day here in the U.S., we’ve got a treat for you. If you’ve got 30 minutes to spare from holiday-ing, we think you’ll enjoy this episode of the Playing on Air podcast.

It’s a very short play by Hamish Linklater called Thanksgiving for One, and it stars the the famous, formidable, and hilarious Jean Smart. She’s been having quite a run lately, what with Mare of Easttown and Hacks. Linklater himself plays the only other character, a waiter at a Ruth’s Chris Steak House on Thanksgiving Day, 2020. Listen here.

We send everyone who celebrates Thanksgiving today our warmest wishes for a day of gratitude, reflection, and connection. And just in case you came here this morning looking for the 1960 Pillsbury Bake Off’s prizewinning Dilly Casserole Bread, here it is.

Love,

Ann and Kay

  • Happy Thanksgiving!

  • Thankful for the community here!

  • My copy of that Pillsbury bakeoff is well used and remains in my cookbook collection to this day… I was 13 when I first made this bread as well as anise cookie recipe. Fond memories, perfect for Thanksgiving!

  • A Happy and Joyous Thanksgiving to all!

  • Just a reminder: Among Indigenous people of the U.S. and Canada, this day is observed as A Day of Mourning.

  • Thankful for this community, every day. With all respect to those who mourn.
