The tribe has spoken! Friends, after four rounds of robust voting, it is time to announce the four category winners for MDK March Mayhem.

Here is a downloadable PDF of the Round 5 bracket. (Apologies for the small type! And the links are misbehaving—again, our apologies.)

The following four patterns will vie for the title of Champion of MDK March Mayhem.

Sweater

Branches and Buds Pullover by Carrie Bostick Hoge.

Shawl

The Rain Outside by Sylvia McFadden.

Head, Hands, Feet

Passerine Hat by Erica Heusser.

Home, Baby, Toy

Sheep! by Susan B. Anderson.

Voting has now closed.

The Champion of MDK March Mayhem will be announced on Monday, April 3, 2017. We are overwhelmed by the response to this wacky effort—and we are knocked out by the 64 patterns that have been a part of this friendly competition. Thank you all for joining in this celebration of the dazzling patterns of 2016.

  • That was the toughest vote yet…

  • This is hard …

  • I tried to vote by the creativity and skill of the designer, since most of these weren’t my style to knit or wear. So that made it extra difficult. There is so much talent out there!

  • so INCREDIBLY hard!

  • Now i understand how my husband feels when all of his teams are out of the contest, and he must still find someone to cheer for so he can keep watching the game!

  • Well before this round I had one of my original choices left in each category, but now I’m down to just one, so my last vote is my easiest one! Baaaaa Baaaaaa………….

    • Same here!

  • I agree, the Final Four was a difficult decision. I was looking for things that were interesting, that I might knit, and that would expand my skill set. When it came down to it, there was only one choice so that, though I loved the other 3 — and had voted for them to be in the final four — I had to go with the shawl!

  • Augh! How can one possibly choose?

  • I really like all four designs. But someday I will knit that hat. So there it is.

  • Easy vote for me! This has been so much fun!

  • Can’t choose!
    Too hard!
    Bought them all.
    Cast on!

    • That is probably the best idea – buy them all! (But which will you cast on first?)

  • Three of the four remaining patterns are things I have been admiring on Ravelry. I’ll need some time to think about how to choose!

  • It’s funny – I never voted for “Sheep” on any round but I have spent more money on Susan B. Anderson’s books and online patterns than on any other designer since the competition started. By gum does she have some adorable patterns out there.

This was another tough round of voting. Kudos to all the talented designers!

  • This is just terrifically fun. Thank you!!

  • So hard to vote, because each of these patterns was my top choice in each category!

  • Thanks for putting together this delightful challenge; so many interesting patterns to choose from. Ultimately my final vote was more difficult than I thought it would be, since my choices continued through the madness. I’ll be checking back to see who wins! And yes, pattern purchasing will occur!

  • Definitely a tough vote. Loved them all. I’ve been following Susan B. Anderson for years. She’s definitely a maker of cute things.

  • The sheep by Susan B Anderson

  • my original (and I think only one queued *before* this all started ) favorite made it to the final go, sheep, go!

  • Agh! Clicked through to vote and … I can’t choose. They are all winners. Please count my not voting in this round as a vote for all of them .

  • I can’t seem to vote

    • Oops, did it

  • All four are in my bracket!!! It was tough to choose my favorite, and I can’t wait to see which one comes out on top!
