Melanie Falick has given the world of craft some of its most beloved books. As both a writer and an editor, she has a rare, broad view of bookmaking. We are proud and delighted to be working with her as editor and creative director of the MDK Field Guides.
Her new book, Making a Life: Working by Hand and Discovering the Life You Are Meant to Live, was named one of the 100 Best Books of 2019 by Publishers Weekly.
From 2003 to 2015, she was the publishing director of STC Craft/Melanie Falick Books, an imprint of Abrams, proudly working with a broad range of extraordinary authors (including Natalie Chanin, Kaffe Fassett, Norah Gaughan, Joelle Hoverson, Lotta Jansdotter, and Clara Parkes).
Prior to that she was the editor-in-chief of Interweave Knits magazine. She is the author of Knitting in America, Kids Knitting, Weekend Knitting, Knit: A Personal Handbook, and Handknit Holidays, and co-author with Kristin Nicholas of Knitting for Baby, with over 400,000 books in print.
