Shakti DK
A new talent in the world of hand dyeing, Vrinda Yarn Co. is creating innovative yarns.
Shakti DK is delicious because of its unique twist—plied in a way to increase durability, without synthetic fibers. This technique also creates a unique effect when dyed, a subtle barber pole look. Adapt your favorite sock pattern for this DK-weight wonder with a recipe from Kate Atherley here.
Please note: It is the nature of hand-dyed yarns to have subtle variations from skein to skein. The color you see here may vary slightly from the color of the yarn you receive.

Why Uruguayan Merino?
Jay is from Uruguay, and as a youth he attended farming school where he learned to care for sheep. So, when searching for a wool supplier, it was natural that we would look to Uruguay.
Uruguay is a small country with ideal climate conditions for sheep to enjoy grazing outdoors, free from the practice of mulesing. Uruguay is a country with three times more sheep than people, so the farmers know a thing or two about raising sheep. This results in wool of the highest caliber, which is produced in a sustainable environment, using renewable resources.
Choosing Uruguayan wool not only provides you with a product of impeccable quality, but it supports the farmers, shearers, and the mills in Uruguay that have been honing their craft for generations.
Sustainability and Environmental Care
Vrinda Yarn Co.’s Uruguayan wool is grown, scoured, combed and spun using the most sustainable, environmentally friendly methods available. The facilities where the wool is scoured and combed, as well as where the wool undergoes the superwash process, are powered almost entirely by renewable energy. They have modern effluent treatment plants, ensuring all the factory liquid and solid effluents are treated to meet the high standards demanded by government authorities.
