This is the most elegant piece of engineering we’ve seen in a very long while. Ellen Schiller works in spirals—a simple idea that results in beautiful textures that also happen to be sturdy, machine-washable bags and vessels.

We asked Ellen to design a bag especially for MDK: large enough to hold a decent-sized knitting project, flat on the bottom so it sits well, and with handles long enough to fit on a shoulder.

The Revolution Tote is Ellen’s exquisitely pure design. The gray zigzag stitching is so beautiful—the pattern and randomness of it are not like anything we’ve seen before.

It functions as a bag to carry and also as a vessel to keep at home for your favorite knitting project.

About Ellen

Hey Blue Handmade is the work of Ellen Schiller, a New England maker, mama, and former book publishing nine-to-fiver. She has slowly developed techniques and tricks for manifesting unique shapes and forms that truly set her work apart. Ellen loves to experiment with new colorways and materials, but her favorite part of the day is sitting down to sew, anticipating what forms will take shape with each mesmerizing spiral.

Yarn featured in photographs is sold separately. See final picture in the gallery for all three Revolution vessels by Hey Blue Handmade.
