Karida Collins’s Simple Swoncho design in MDK Field Guide No. 18: Beginnings was a love-at-first-sight knit for us. We took a flying leap into its stylishly fitted sleeves, like it was Patrick Swayze at the talent show.
A swoncho is a hybrid garment: the popover ease of a poncho, with the practicality of sleeves (so you can carry things, for one thing).
For a quick, gratifying worsted-weight project, the Flash Cap is low-dose colorwork at its zippiest.
The yarn for both? Karida’s new creation, Organic Studio Worsted.
Like the other yarns featured in Field Guide No. 18—all from Neighborhood Fiber Company—Organic Studio Worsted is milled from GOTS-certified organic wool, which is machine washable, but without the chemical superwash process. The 100-percent merino wool is minimally processed and butter soft. Nobody puts Organic Studio Worsted in the corner—it’s destined for greatness.
