Hudson Mini-Skein Sets

By Jill Draper

Not gonna lie: some of these colors don’t even have names. They’re just little arias from the color opera that is Jill Draper’s imagination. A dozen skeins of the richest hand-dyed merino, in a weight we are calling light worsted. What you do with these mini skeins is pretty much our definition of fun.

This product is currently out of stock and unavailable.

There are two things you may already know about us: we love mini skeins, and we adore Jill Draper’s custom-made, US-grown yarns that she dyes by hand in her Hudson Valley studio.

So it’s only natural and right that we have prevailed upon Jill Draper to cook up mini skeins in her soft, beautiful Hudson superwash wool yarn. (Hudson is a perfect gauge match for Jill’s Windham yarn; the only difference is that Hudson is superwash.)

The individual colors don’t have names, although in a few cases they may match standard colors for Jill’s yarns. Dyeing these skeins for MDK was a romp for Jill Draper, who had free rein to cook up—and by cook up we mean dye by hand in her Hudson Valley studio—bunches of mini skeins in delightful colors.

Hudson is a worsted weight merino with a light hand and color that shifts in that lovely way that hand-dyed yarns do. The 4-ply construction adds strength and durability to the fine Merino fibers, so it’s great for picky wool wearers that you knit for.

Hudson is treated for superwash, so it’s machine washable. (We never machine-wash our precious wool handknits, even if they’re superwash, but it’s nice to know that you can.)

About the designer
A graduate of the Pratt Institute with a BFA in fashion design, Jill Draper loves yarn and color so much that she started her own company, Jill Draper Makes Stuff. When it comes to farm-to-skein yarns, JDMS yarns are the genuine article, with all fibers locally sourced and all yarns designed by Jill in collaboration with East Coast mills.
We love Jill Draper's dreamy yarns.
