On Saturday, we changed our name. From now on, we are Modern Daily Knitting.
We want to thank everyone who let us know how they felt about our name. We are deeply sorry for the pain we caused by having a name that did not communicate a warm welcome to all knitters, including Black knitters and knitters of color. We apologize for taking so long to realize that our name could not and should not stand.
Changes to the site and printed matter will be made as soon as we can make them.
Response to our new name has been overwhelmingly positive—a huge number of emails, texts, DMs, and comments. We’re grateful to you all for letting us know that you think this was a change for the better.
The NFC Momentum Fund by Karida Collins
Here’s a cool thing.
Karida Collins of Neighborhood Fiber Co. has been providing MDK with her beautiful hand-dyed yarn for years. Now, we hope you’ll have a look at a new initiative that is actually an extension of her long work with fundraising for a range of causes.
It’s the NFC Momentum Fund, a donor-advised charitable fund that will be held at the Baltimore Community Foundation.
Karida will disburse the funds to a variety of organizations working for change. Read more about the FC Momentum Fund right here. More than 700 contributions already.
Knitting is a beautiful part of life, not separate from life. We fervently hope that this is a moment of real change in the world, and we commit to working for that change.
