We’ve really had to sit on this piece of news.
She’s one of the shining stars in the knitting firmament.
Designer, teacher, author, tour guide—she brings a huge swath of knowledge and talent to what she does. And, best of all, she does it with so much love.
Who is it?
Mary Jane Mucklestone.
Mary Jane is one of the knitting world’s great travelers, exploring the world with knitting in hand. We have long dreamed of going on one of her guided trips to the Shetland islands.
She has taught legions of knitters all about working with color.
She is the author of extraordinary books including Fair Isle Weekend (Laine); 200 Fair Isle Motifs: A Knitter’s Directory (Interweave); 150 Scandinavian Motifs: The Knitter’s Directory (Interweave); Geo Knits (Sterling); and Fair Isle Style: 20 Fresh Designs for a Classic Technique (Interweave).
Take a trip to Mary Jane’s website to get a taste of all that she is up to.
Now, it’s time to get ready for a season of knitting with Mary Jane and her colorful ideas. Field Guide No. 17 is a collection of designs that we will knit again and again. We can’t wait to begin.
