Editors’ note: Patty Lyons isn’t a know-it-all. It’s just that she basically, actually does know it all. All year long, she has been dazzling us with her answers to knitters’ questions. Here we share a few of the many highlights to be found in her monthly column, Ask Patty. If you have a question for her, write askPattymdk@gmail.com. She has yet to be stumped, so bring it on!

  • SO helpful! Thanks Patty and happy, healthy new year to you and your family.

  • Every time I have a knitting question I type it in the google box with Patty Lyons. And there’s the answer! This week I’m sewing together garter st squares. Smiles and frowns, all the way.

  • This reminds me that I was going to work on upping my cast-on/bind-off game. I’ve mastered the German cast-on in knit, but still need to work on the purl version. I haven’t attempted Channel Island or Icelandic – I really need to do that!

  • For some unknown reason, I no have the icon appearing so I can save articles.
What happened? What can I do to get it back?
    Thank you.

    • Jane, just log into your account again. For some reason the site logs you out occasionally, I was logged out too this morning.

  • “Let the Tool Do the Work” became my mantra last summer after I’ve read the article. These words put a smile on my face whenever I say them to myself (often) and they always mark the begin of a more mindful knitting. The tension is not only released from the yarn but also from my mind. Your columns are always so helpful and fun to read but these words will accompany me on my journey for a long time to come. Thank you!

  • Let the Tool Do the Work and Magic Loop Solutions changed everything. There was before, and now there’s after.
