Dear Kay,
One of Nashville’s legendary women is Anne Roos. The other day she sent out, in her characteristic way, a little something for everybody to enjoy.
That’s it, up top: the first bit of Beethoven’s 5th Symphony as visualized using Line Rider, a simple computer game from ten years ago. DoodleChaos is the YouTuber who cooked this up. Much more to see at his YouTube channel.

A commenter on this performance notes that Daniel Barenboim conducts the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra without a score, from memory. I know: he has one job. But wow, what a job it is.

These visualisations are great for making you pay attention to what the music is doing. I thoroughly enjoyed the wit of the few that I saw. So far my favorite is Hungarian Rhapsody number 2 by Matthew Buckley.

These are awesome – thanks so much! And I have to say, I really enjoy John Eliot Gardiner & the Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique’s version of all of Beethoven’s 9 symphonies, for those looking for something different…played on period pieces, really nice!
It made me smile and take a deep breath!
