Dear Kay,

Hubbo and I were discussing YouTubes, as happens, and he let fly that he could sing the entire opening number from the 2011 Tony Awards.

I was all: no way.

I challenged him to sing it, and he did. Amazing. In the interest of giving us all a laugh, here’s Neil Patrick Harris, crushing it at the 2011 Tony Awards with “Broadway: It’s Not Just for Gays Anymore.”

Once you start streaming the Neil Patrick Harris, it’s hard to stop. There’s “The Number in the Middle of the Show” from the Emmys.

And then there’s “We’re Going Bigger.”

Am knitting through it all. Hope you are, too.

Love,

Ann

  • The man is totally awesome!!!!

  • Sweet! And has he started working on the opening number from the 2016 Tony Awards? Because YIKES! 🙂

  • I prefer to think of it as “The Emmys Song with my Imaginary Boyfriend, Nathan Fillion.”

  • I always thought that NPH was such a dorky kid in Dougie Houser, and am constantly amazed by what a totally cool guy he grew up to be. A good lesson, even for us grown ups.

  • You’re going to send me down the Dr. Horrible rabbit hole. There are worse ways to spend time.

  • Thanks- Now this is the way to start my day. Love NPH!

  • What a glorious way to start a Sunday morning! Thank you, Ann.

  • Thank you for the smiles this morning! I love NPH, but I adore Nathan Fillion.

  • Since you knit through it all, we must assume you did not watch the “Birdman” parody from the 2015 Oscars…;-)!

  • Quite impressive. I love the Tonys, and that one was especially good opening number. How long til he knows Cordon’s opening. He was very good too.

    Thanks for the great clips!

  • What a great start to my morning. No excuse for being lazy.

  • I immediately thought of Dr. Horrible, but Angela beat me to it. But then my contribution to Lazy Sunday is sleeping until almost 10:00 this morning.

  • Ann, I confess to wondering if your hubbo memorized this purposefully or if it was just an ear worm that got stuck in his head and he went with it. I knew he was talented but this is an exceptional feat! Does he include this info on LinkedIn? Perform it at family reunions? The possibilities are mind boggling! Thank you both for this morning’s smiles.

  • Sorry to write twice. I just turned on the news. It’s too insane. You’re right NPH & knitting! Maybe that’s why I finisjed my queen size Moderne (well except for 8 kitcheners That are yet to be sewn bec it requires choosing one of many books off the shelf thats a yard away from my knitting, or um using the interwebs…) AND finished a very easy 1sk shawl. Both WIPS within 3 days. Now whi knows, I might even pick up those 2009 socks.
Thanks so much for the blog.

  • Neil Patrick Harris is ALWAYS the answer. Thanks for the reminder.

  • Love it!

I saw him, seems like ages ago, in ‘Assasins’. He was great.

I love how he loves musical theater.

Happy Sunday – stay cool Northeast US.

  • If you watch NPH on the treadmill or the stationary bike, your workout will fly by. And you smile the whole time.
    Thanks for a lazy Sunday.

  • WOW!! NPH! That was just the best! Have to go back now and watch a few more……

  • How fun! I love him. I bound off a pair of socks while I watched! Sarah

  • Thanks. I needed that.

  • That was fun! I don’t usually watch awards shows, but thank goodness for YouTube because I can catch up on what I’ve missed. Lots of music to keep me company while I knit.

  • And you know who wrote the 2013 Tony Award opener? Lin-Manuel Miranda, of Hamilton fame. He apparently won an Emmy for it. He’s everywhere!

  • NPH. *sigh*

(I also like the number from 2013 with Andrew Rannells, Laura Benanti and Megan Hilty. Brilliant stuff.)
